Quilting Upcycle (Oct 26)

$90.00

Bring in a garment that needs a new lease on life. We have a number of quilt blocks to chose from and loads of fabric scraps to work with. Make a quilt block for the back of a jean jacket, the front of your T-shirt, to cover a rip or a stain or just for the love of a one-of-a-kind item. Learn how to chose colours, how to plan and piece a quilt block and some tips and tricks for attaching it to a ready made garment.

When: Saturday Oct 26, 1 - 4pm (1 classes – 3hrs instruction in total)

Group size: Maximum of 6 students

Age range: Adults 16+

Skill level: Suitable for confident beginners who are familiar with domestic sewing machines, cutting out fabric and seam allowances. The success of quilting is an accuracy, so if you are new to sewing we recommend taking the Adult Learn to Sew before taking this class.

Supplies: Please bring a garment to upcycle. The quilt blocks range from 10" X10" to 12"x 12". You are welcome to bring a favourite fabric(s) that you want to use in your quilt block, but otherwise we have loads to chose from and everything else you need in the studio.

Teacher: Tazia was taught to sew by her two grandmothers and has always loved creative expression of all kinds. She has created over 60 quilts in the last 5 years. She loves exploring colourful motifs and is experienced with complex patterns, piecing, binding by hand and machine quilting.
